Reporting an absence If your child is going to be away from school we encourage parents/caregivers to contact the school either in person, phone or e-mail.  This is to ensure that everyone is aware of where the child is, safe at home and not missing between home and school.  Should there be no contact by the family the school will endeavor to contact the parents/caregivers to check the whereabouts of the child.
School Hours ~ Our school day begins at 8.55am and finishes at 2.55pm.  We like all children to be at school before 8.55 so they have  time to prepare themselves for the day, but not before 8.30am as this is a valuable time for teachers to meet and prepare for the day.  Once a child has arrived at school they are not permitted to leave the school grounds until 2.55pm unless parental permission is given directly to a staff member.

Communication between school and home  ~  We consider this a vital link to helping your child achieve their full potential.  We actively encourage both formal and informal get-togethers with parents through a series of school BBQs, sporting events,  parent-teacher interviews, learning profiles and written reports.  If you would like to contact a teacher the best time for this is 3.10pm - 3.30pm except on a Wednesday which is staff meeting night.  Each Friday a newsletter is produced and is given to the eldest child in each family to take home.  Alternatively, we can e-mail these directly to parents if required.  If you would like to take this e-mail option please e-mail us on office@stfrancis-thames.school.nz

Inspired by St Francis love or creation, we will provide a nurturing environment for each child, focusing on their spiritual, moral, academic, emotional, social and physical needs.
